Making Elderberry Ink

2.30–4pm Sunday 26th October
Glen Village Hall, EH44 6PX

The process for making ink from elderberries is very simple, yielding a rich red-violet. The colour can be further modified with the addition of other substances.

In this workshop, we'll go through the ink-making process. This is very small batch work that celebrates the variable qualities of natural materials obtained through gentle foraging; far from the exploitative practices of industrial process.

You'll learn how to identify Elder (Sambucus nigra) and find out about the properties of this much overloooked plant.

Please bring a (very!) small bottle to take a sample of the ink home with you.
