Sunday 1st November
Inspired by Frank Auerbach’s Charcoal Heads, we’ll look at the particular qualities of charcoal – a versatile drawing material that enable forms to emerge out of the darkness
Sunday 8th November
We'll be looking at the gorgeous line drawings of artist David Hockney, and considering the importance of what you choose to leave out! There’ll be lots of drawing exercises to build confidence and fluidity whilst sharpening our observation skills
Sunday 15th November
Looking at the raw emotive work of Tracey Emin’s prints and drawings, we’ll work with expressive marks using the immediacy of monotype without a press.
Sunday 22nd November
Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres is a master in portraying folds and drapes in his drawing. Beginning with pencil, then using chalk, charcoal and paper stumps, we'll apply his simple technique of depicting light & dark, practicing the fluid line.
Sunday 29th November
What reveals itself when we draw the same thing over and over again? In this workshop, inspired by William Kentridge, we’ll look at repetition as a way to develop our images and our thinking. Feel free to bring an object of interest to work with.
